Angles are everywhere in our lives, even if we do not always notice them. Many different jobs incorporate the understanding of angles, including engineering, art, construction, architecture and astronomy.
In order to ensure buildings and other structures not only look good, but also remain standing, precise angle measurement is needed. For example, the Sydney Opera House looks distinctive with the roof sails which are formed from two curved triangles. We all use GPS to navigate our way around new places. GPS measures angles between satellite signals to help pinpoint exactly where we are. Astronomers use angles to track the movement of planets and stars in order to understand more about the universe.
But, before you revise the facts, have a bit of fun. Enter Pi to two decimal places (3.14) in your calculator and look at it in the mirror, you’ll see it spells ‘pie’.
