Celebrating 2018 Exam Results

A massive congratulations to all our students and to our tutors for some amazing exam results this year! New, tougher exams are in place for both A Level and GCSE exams. They require a greater breadth of knowledge, more mathematical content in certain subjects and reduced coursework. Linear exams also mean all assessment takes place at the end of the course, which increases the pressure. This makes us even prouder that all our students have passed their exams, with some fantastic grades. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our tutors for their hard work over the last year. Many of them go the extra mile to support their tutees in the run up to the exams and this is much appreciated.

A Level Results

Over 80% of our A Level results were A* – C and have helped many of the students to go on to their chosen universities. Students are taking a variety of courses including Psychology, Biomedical Sciences, Dentistry and Civil Engineering. No matter what they have decided to do, we are sure they will all be successful in their chosen careers. We wish them all the very best of luck.

For those starting university, and living away from home for the first time, it can be a daunting time. There is much support out there, so click on the picture below for some tips on how to survive!

GCSE Results

The GCSE results achieved were also excellent, with over 90% of our students achieving a strong pass or above. Many students achieved grades much higher than their predicted and target grades. The hard work has clearly paid off and this is just the first step towards a successful future. Some of our students who have agreed to be named in this blog are:

• • • • Prittesh Odedra – who was targeted grade 5 and 6 for Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths but in fact achieved a fantastic grade 8 in Biology, Physics and Maths and an amazing grade 9 in Chemistry – this was a remarkable achievement.

       

      • Mehedi Hossain – achieving an outstanding seven grade 9 results and 3 A* results putting him in the top 732 students in the country who got a clean sweep of top results! Working hard with both of these boys with their Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics along with other subjects and areas of advice clearly paid off! It was lovely to be told by Mehedi that he wouldn’t have achieved grades like this without our support, but it is Mehedi who has to be celebrated for his hard work and dedication in ensuring this achievement.

       

      • Iftikhar – having a student who is only in year 10 sit his GCSE Maths a year early and achieve a grade 9 is again a phenomenal achievement – well done Iftikhar!

       

      • Hannah – achieving a grade 8 in French and has now decided to take French at A Level. She also achieved 7 in Maths and 7 and 6 in Science which surpassed her expectations.

       

      • Sophie – achieving a grade 9 in her Chemistry and Biology along with her Maths after beginning to work with us when she was achieving grade 4 to grade 6 consistently in year 10. Along with Lucas who achieved grades 7 and 6 in science and Alex who gained 8 and 7, above and beyond their needs to get to their next stage of their education. Congratulations again to everyone.

       

      Well done to those students who gave it their all but didn’t quite make the grades they had hoped for, it takes a lot of resilience and determination to carry on in your journey to succeed. We look forward to helping you do this with our continued support and I hope that we will be celebrating that new success for you in the near future and are looking forward to continuing to support a number of students through their A Levels. We wish everyone the very best whether they are staying in school, beginning studies at a new college or following an apprenticeship.
